THE NEXT UEPa MEETING?

It's definitely eatin' season again. For that reason, the UEPa needs to start thinking about its next meeting. Ian emailed me and reminded me about the annual August hamburger eating contest in Hamburg, PA (which they will be doing again), but we have to meet before then.

We should meet in May. Will it be to eat giant pancakes at the Niner Diner (or try their burger challenge again)? Will it be for the North Philly Cheesesteak tour (remember the South Philly tour?)? Will it be another meeting at Denny's Beer Barrel Pub? Or will it be something completely different? I'm open to suggestions. To get the creative juices flowing, here's a sweet picture of some cheesey hot dogs.

I want to go back to Denny's. I am going to have a crack at the 3 pound burger.

We should definitely go back to Denny's before the summer is over. I'm down with making that our next meeting too. I have to find a burger I can finally conquer there.

Dave, they have 1/3 pound burgers on the menu, I don't think they go smaller than 1/2 pound though.

I guess I opened myself up to that one. Name on the wall...that's what I'm shooting for. What do you have to do to get that? The 2-pounder? That's what you did last time (4+ pounds total). I can do it this time!

I think you could have done it last time. Too much reasoning made you throw in the towel.

Count me in! I'm going to need a ride, though, if we go anywhere but Philly. I'll split the cost of gas/tolls with whoever drives me :o)

Honestly, Denny's?!? I like Denny's just like the next guy but the regualr menu food is about 10x better than their challenge-burgers. PLUS, it's been played to death. TuT's idea about the AYCE Pirates game sounds awesome. A second cheese steak tour sounds sweet. If we do Denny's AGAIN, let's do it later and make this UEPa meeting something else....

Denny's isn't played! We had like 12 meetings since the last time we were there, you just missed all of them.

He's got you there, Ian. We should TRY to keep our meetings to a centralized location if we can. Pitt is too far for our Philly comrades to travel and Philly is too far for Pitt to travel.

That said, I think we should attempt something we haven't tried before with this meeting. Tut suggested something in State College. They've got a place called R U Hungry that serves a sandwich called the "Fat Bitch" -- a foot long cheesesteak topped with chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, french fries and all the fixins.

Or we can go outside the state and see what Baltimore has to offer. Or we can just find a buffet somewhere neutral, bring a kitchen scale and put a hurtin' on the place.

I'm open to anything. I just wanna eat. (But we do need to go to Denny's before the summer is out!)

There is a Phillip's AYCE at Inner Harbor, Baltimore. Plus an enjoyable night life.

R U HUNGRY? sounds like a good idea. They're really nice and the food is pretty good.

Again, TUT comes through with a brilliant idea.

How bout those Mets last night, Mega? Lost 13-1 to the Pirates! Ouch!

If we don't do Denny's, then I vote for R U Hungry. We did a ballpark hotdog eating day already. I want to get my hands on a Fat Bitch at State College.
