THE CHAMP
This is one of my favorite photos. I took it at the 2006 Nathan's hot dog eating contest after Kobayashi had won. The crowd of 20,000+ was dispursing and I was waiting to grab a word and a photo with Badlands Booker when a surge of people swept toward me from the staging area. Koby was heading back to the Bus of Champions. I stayed ahead of the crowd and grabbed this photo and this great shot from the other side of the bus, through the window (though it may look as though I were INSIDE the bus).

Oh my, Pete. What happened?
10:12 AM
I got shaken up. It wasn't the usual jitters I get, being I was the only one eating it intesified by 10. For at least half the stunt I couldn't get anything down. I finally settled into a groove, but it wasn't enough. If I could only get WIP to broadcast from my kitchen. I'm not quitting in trying to qualify though. I'll be doing the Wing Off at PJ Welihan's in Cherry Hill Monday night. Feel free to stop by and cheer me on or call me a bum. Some call it heart and some say its the mind set of a chronic gambler, but I'm going to try to get in every way possible.

Good luck man. Carey, are you going to try a qualifier too? Eatfeats has the schedule.
10:16 AM
Yeah, I was going to do Last night's, but didn't get back in time. I am definitely doing the 17th, 2 miles from my house.
Pete, what was the routine you came up with during training? Something like two at a time would have been good. Frome the video it looked like right from the start you were taking too small of a bite and chewing too long.

Dave, if Beau asks (or sees on here) Tell him I had a lot of unexpected traveling and completely forgot about the Flyers game. Are they/you going still?
11:40 AM
I haven't heard anything else about the Flyers game. I'm prob not going...I'll ask him to chime in.
5:16 PM
Carey,
I'll get back to you. I haven't heard anything lately. No worries if you can't make it to that one. We can all hit something down the road.
5:21 PM
I was practicing doing one at a time. I just freaked out and couldn't make a smooth rhythm.

Carey - don't want to rain on your parade, man, but I nicked a copy of the rules before I left the Eat off today. Rule #2 states: Wing Bowl 16 is an IFOCE/MLE officially sanctioned and sponsored event, any member of, or person affiliated with, non-IFOCE/MLE professional eating organizations, including but not limited to AICE, are also not eligible to participate in the contest. I represent and warrant that I am not a member of, or have any affiliation with, AICE, or any other non-IFOCE/MLE professional eating organization.
As they were not verifying IDs at the Trappe when you signed up, you could theoretically go to a Wing Off, lie when you sign the release, and compete anyway. The problem would come when / if you won, they verified your information at some point, and your name went across a desk in New York. You would probably be shut out.
Sorry.

Bill, I saw the post on eatfeats, thanks for submitting that.
I wasn't sure if they actually got smart enough to include that in the rules.
Hey, is there a charge for entering the wing-off? I never competed in wings, so I don't think I would win, I just want to gauge how I would do.
9:38 AM
I might fill out the form using Pete's name.
9:40 AM
I don't think you're handsome enough to pass for me, but any way to get in works.
11:28 PM
No charge for entering a wing off, unless the bar is charging a cover charge, which would be a dick move. What the hell, go fo it - at least you'll get free wings out of the deal.
10:24 AM
Carey let me know what happens.
9:05 PM
I didn't go last night. Wasn't worth it with the weather here and all.
