SHOOFLY REDEUX

Registration for shoofly pie opened last night. I watched the website all day. Refresh page, refresh page, refresh page. Sometime during an episode of Six Feet Under, registration commenced and I dutifully signed up.

The 2006 shoofly contest was my first ever IFOCE appearance and was a giddy as an 11-year-old girl at an American Idol concert when I got the email from Kate Westfall saying that I had a spot at the table. Hopefully I'll get a spot at this year's table too. Below is a shot of Steakbellie at last year's competition.

would you say you were as excited as when you found out Carson Daily was taking over on TRL? BTW, did he ever send you that autographed picture? Yes Heather, its true. He WAS the biggest fan over 21 in the northeastern united states.

I blame my love of TRL (10 years ago, it should be noted) on a then fresh-faced and innoncent Ms. Britney Spears -- not Carson Daly.

I had never heard of Shoo-Fly Pie until the 2005 contest and didn't have it until I was in Hershey, PA for the Whoopie Pie festival. For those that have never had it, I think it's awesome. It just tastes different. Reminds me of eating a McDonald's apple-turn-over-baked-thing that you can buy. Minus the apple flavor of course. Regardless, that is a hell of a competition to compete in. Good luck Mr. Pres. On a side note, could you crop out Steakbellie next time? Certainly no hard feelings.

I still kinda regret not going to that competition with my sorry shoo fly pie. If I were on the east coast, I'd definitely be there this year.

Oh wow - TRL? I always suspected that I was the cooler one in our relationship; thanks, Carey, for confirming it.

No, Dave is cool. He's so secure in his coolness that he openly admits to collecting pogs, and is trying to get a series with all the competitive eaters on them.

Okay, TRL I'll admit to (again, 10 years ago), but I'll deny ever collecting pogs. Although a series of CE pogs would be kind of cool. Sort of like Liz's magnets.

GENIUS! That is just plain beautiful. "Be sure to have Mom hang up your school report cards with the official UEPa magnet. This limited edition piece showcases the famous Denny's Beer Barrel Pub 'Charity Burger' along with members of the UEPa. Don't delay, get yours today for the low, low price of 2.49." Run with it!

yeah, so Derek, are you going to be in the eating competition also, or is that scheduled at the same time as the Miss Pierogie talent contest?
