FOOD PORN VIII: AN ORGY OF HDBs

In honor of the start of spring (and Chip Simpson's 39 HDBs in the first qualifier of the Nathan's season), I present the following behind the counter shot at Gray's Papaya...also known as the best hot dogs in New York City. Besides Nathan's, of course. Liz knows what I'm talking about. They're so good, they don't even have a website. And no, this picture wasn't taken 15 years ago, $2.75 usually does get you two dogs and a drink at Gray's.

I saw there is a frat at PSU State College having a qualifier. It is April 29, not on the schedule. I think you have to be a student to register though. How can we have a members only qualifier? We should look into it.

Its a qualifier to get into a qualifier. I know we all registered, but I'll do it if crab cakes isn't that date this year. Cheesesteaks one week followed by hotdogs the next.

nevermind then. I must have read the flyer wrong. Wow, can we have a qualifier to get into that qualifier, so that we can go qualify for the nathan's 4th?

Did anyone get a confirmation for Nathan's qualifiers yet?

Not me. Hopefully they let us know at least a month prior to the event. I'm going to start training this weekend regardless. My first 12 minute run of the season is this Saturday.

What are you going to be using? My first nathan's 12 minute was the other night. only got 13, and took another 18 minutes for 3 more. Wow, what a disgusting taste after the first ten. I couldn't eat another after that, but I had a pound of salad no problem. I am doubting my deuce chances now.

I jumped the gun checking old e-mails and got my confirmation on March 21st for all qualifiers. Hopefully we'll know for sure soon.

Damn, you scared me for a second Philly Guy. Thought I got shut out of the qualifiers. Wouldn't really surprise me though.

CAREY - I'll be using some Oscar Meyer bun lengths that I got on sale. Not the sheep casing Nate's dogs (the skins make a difference), but I'm just testing capacity with my early runs.

It blows my mind when I think about how hard the deuce is (and how many guys struggle to reach it), and then I see guys like Chip Simpson eating 39.25 dogs. That's TWO DEUCES. Incredible numbers, but also incredible disparity.
